Whether you're planning a solo work retreat, collaborating with colleagues, or simply looking to trade your home office for the Pacific coast, you'll have the space and internet to stay productive.

  • Choose from the Garden Casita, the Ocean View House, or reserve the entire estate for small groups or retreats. Each option offers dedicated workspaces, fully equipped kitchens, and easy beach access.

  • We welcome everything from long weekends to month-long stays. Many guests find one to four weeks is the perfect amount of time to settle into a productive rhythm.

  • Baja Casa Mar is designed primarily for extended stays, workations, retreats, and longer visits. Minimum stay is generally 3 nights, however, requirements may vary by season and accommodation type. Please contact us for current availability and stay options.

Working Remotely

  • Yes. The home is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi suitable for video calls, streaming, and everyday remote work. Because we're in a small coastal community, occasional service interruptions can occur due to regional infrastructure or weather, though they are generally infrequent.

  • Yes. Each accommodation includes comfortable places to work, whether you need to answer emails, join meetings, or spend several hours focused on a project.

  • Absolutely. The estate works especially well for colleagues or small retreat groups who each need their own workspace while still having places to gather.

  • Absolutely. Baja Casa Mar is close enough to the U.S. that getting here is straightforward, yet far enough away to help you step out of your daily routine. Many guests find it's the perfect introduction to working internationally—without the complexity of long-haul travel or major time zone changes.

Traveling to Mexico

  • Yes. U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport to enter Mexico and return home. Be sure your passport won't expire during your trip.

  • You will need to obtain an FMM (Forma Migratoria Multiple), an admission document issued by Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM). Although it's casually called a "tourist card" or "tourist visa," it is not officially a visa.

    The FMM is issued to U.S., Canadian, and other eligible nationalities for tourism, business, or visitor purposes. It can be valid for up to 180 days and is required for every person entering Mexico - including children. There is no "tourist zone" or 72-hour exemption in Mexican immigration law. An FMM is required to travel anywhere in Mexico - including the Baja border region - regardless of how short your visit.

    I recommend using this website (below) to print out the FMM form ahead of time. You can pay at the port of entry you use to enter Mexico.

  • Yes! Many guests drive across the border, making it easy to bring equipment, surfboards, or extra luggage. We’ll provide directions and recommendations after booking.

  • Yes. If you're driving into Mexico, Mexican auto liability insurance is strongly recommended and generally required because U.S. auto policies typically don't provide the required coverage in Mexico. I recommend using this service:

  • Yes. Rental cars are available from nearby airports if you'd rather fly than drive.

  • Yes. If you're flying in, I'd be happy to help arrange transportation from the airport to Baja Casa Mar. I can connect you with a trusted driver for airport pickup, and if you'd prefer to arrange your own transportation during your stay, I'm also happy to provide contact information for a reliable local taxi service.

  • Border wait times vary significantly depending on the day, time, and port of entry. We recommend checking current wait times before you travel and planning your return accordingly. We highly recommend applying for Global Entry before your trip to allow for use of the SENTRI lanes.

  • If you expect to travel to Baja more than once—or plan to drive back into the U.S.—we highly recommend applying for Global Entry. It includes access to the SENTRI lanes (when using a vehicle registered with the program) and can dramatically reduce wait times when crossing the border. Many frequent Baja travelers consider it well worth the investment.

During Your Stay

  • We recommend using the filtered water taps in the refrigerator of the main house, on the side of each kitchen sink, or bottled water.

  • Most major U.S. carriers include Mexico in their plans, but it's worth confirming with your provider before traveling.

  • Many businesses accept credit cards and US dollars, but having some Mexican pesos for smaller restaurants, markets, or tips is helpful.

    Just before turning onto the road into Cantu/Punta Banda, you will find CaliMax (a grocery) store with multiple ATMS that allow you to draw money in pesos from your account.

  • Yes. If you're driving into Mexico, Mexican auto liability insurance is strongly recommended and generally required because U.S. auto policies typically don't provide the required coverage in Mexico. I recommend using this service:

  • We’ll provide a digital guidebook with nearby grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and local recommendations before your arrival.

  • Yes. The beach is just steps from the property and is wonderful for walks, especially at sunrise and sunset. As with any beach, always pay attention to ocean conditions and tides before entering the water.

Property Questions

  • Yes. Baja Casa Mar is located just steps from the Pacific Ocean, making it easy to begin and end your workday with time on the beach.

  • The home does not have air conditioning, and it typically isn't needed. Thanks to the coastal location and ocean breezes, the house stays comfortable throughout the year.

    During the cooler winter months, each bedroom is equipped with a space heater, and the living room features a wood-burning stove where you can enjoy the warmth, gentle crackle, and cozy ambiance of a fire after a day by the beach.

  • Yes, guests have convenient on-site parking.

  • Yes. Each accommodation includes a stocked kitchen for preparing meals during your stay. Upon request, the home can also be stocked with some basic grocery items in preparation for your arrival.

  • Yes. The house will have folding beach chairs and towels available for your use.

Retreats & Groups

  • Absolutely. The entire estate is ideal for leadership retreats, planning sessions, mastermind groups, or creative workshops, with shared gathering spaces and private accommodations.

  • Yes! We can suggest beach walks, horseback riding, local restaurants, day trips, wine tasting in the Guadalupe Valley, hiking, paddleboarding, and other experiences that complement a productive stay.
